The roots of Olade start in the home kitchen of Brad Wilk, one of the company's founders.
As the drummer in Rage Against the Machine, Brad was on tour when he began experiencing
the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes. Three weeks later, he was diagnosed. Unable to find an all
natural, sugar free lemonade on the market that would fit with his diet management plan, Brad
began formulating his own.
For years, Brad has combined fresh squeezed organic lemons, glacier spring water and
stevia extract to create his own sugar free lemonade. The same simple three ingredients
we use in Olade today. Based in Santa Cruz, California, Ola Beverage Company collaborates
with organic ingredient suppliers, food formulation experts and creative brand marketing
teams to bring the family of Olade products to consumers in the across America.

Lollapalooza 2008: The view from the ground
A bin full of ice in the press area features Olade, a sugar-free, organic, low-calorie
lemonade drink made by Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk. He
created it after he developed Type 1 diabetes on the road and was unable to find
a lemonade to meet his dietary restrictions. As skeptical as I am of celebrity-related
products—except for Cheech Marin's amazing chipotle hot sauce—Olade rules.
It's not too sweet, not too sour, and totally refreshing. AV Club Blog: Learn more
